Ray White Partners with Camp Quality to bring smiles to local kids facing cancer
Ray White has joined forces with Camp Quality to bring positivity, fun and laughter back into the lives of Hunter kids facing cancer.
Camp Quality has been there for kids (0-15) at every step of their cancer journey for over 40 years. With 545 Newcastle-area families registered with the charity, Ray White’s significant sponsorship will make a real, positive impact to
local people.
The partnership will, over the next 12 months, fund 15 Cancer Education Program puppet shows in the region’s schools and pre-schools, as well as more than 50 hospital visits by the Camp Quality Puppets to kids undergoing treatment.
The school puppet shows bust cancer myths and educate young people on how to help friends and family members living with cancer. The program is proven to increase students’ knowledge and understanding and aims to reduce bullying of children returning to school following treatment. Hospital room puppet visits help build optimism and resilience in children undergoing treatment.
“The generosity of companies like Ray White Newcastle-Lake Macquarie is crucial to the work we do,” Camp Quality CEO Deborah Thomas said.
“On behalf of the almost 13,000 children and nearly 6,000 families currently registered with Camp Quality, my sincere thanks.”
“Sponsorships from community-minded businesses are vital to the continuation and broadening of our programs, which are offered free of charge, all around Australia,” she said.

These services include Kids’ Camps and Family Camps designed to build community and for children to simply have some fun following treatment, Family Fun Days and Family Getaways to help families reconnect amid the trauma of cancer, and educational and counselling resources for anyone grappling with a cancer diagnosis.
Importantly, Camp Quality also funds John Hunter Hospital’s two Child Life Therapists, who use medical play techniques to help child patients manage the pain and anxiety of cancer treatment, reducing the need for sedation.
“Our role as real estate agents goes beyond just helping people find homes; it’s about understanding the real life struggles that families face, especially during health crises,” Ray White Director Darren Penn said.
“By supporting Camp Quality, we aim to extend our care and compassion beyond our professional duties, helping families navigate these tough times together.”
“We believe in the importance of standing by families during what is often the most challenging time of their lives,” Darren continued. “With this heartfelt mission in mind, we look forward to continuing our work with all our valued clients and customers, always offering our assistance with empathy and understanding.”
